During the workshop, the students experienced the challenges of managing airspace through our hands-on "Build Your Own Runway" game, developed by our ATM experts. They also discovered the vital role of communication and innovation in ensuring sky safety through interactive games, live demos, and short films, learning just how busy and complex the skies above us are, especially in Singapore! 🌏 It was incredible to witness their enthusiasm and curiosity as they dived into these activities. A huge shoutout to our amazing team and Halogen for making this event a success and for sharing our passion for air traffic management, aeronautics and continuous innovation 🚀. Just keep working hard and keep moving forward. So when the news came, instead of celebrating, my first instinct was to downplay it. “Did I really deserve this?” “Is this even a big deal?” “Should I even post about it?” But truthfully, Forbes 30 Under 30 is something I’ve wanted since I was 20 years old. Back then, I had no money, no experience, and no clear direction. Just a curious mind and a strong desire to create meaningful change in my own way. I never imagined that journey would lead to... ⭐ Shaping the live streaming (& content creation) space in Singapore and Southeast Asia ⭐ Building my own media company from scratch supercatkei ⭐ Creating wholesome online spaces where people feel safe and welcomed And maybe this moment is teaching me something important too... that it's okay to celebrate the things you worked hard for. Not because titles define your worth, but because growth deserves to be acknowledged ❤️ Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey. I am incredibly honoured and grateful to be part of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list. The real breakthroughs happen when we share perspectives, and co-create solutions that benefit the region as a whole. That spirit of collaboration was front and centre during our panel discussion at Airspace Asia 2025, moderated by Yean Guan Tan (ICAI). The conversation explored how regional collaboration can accelerate innovation and unlock new ways of making ATM more efficient, resilient, and future-ready. Our Deputy Chief Product Owner, Andrian Nazaroi , shared insights on the Regional Collaboration Platform (RCP) alongside an excellent group of experts: • Thuan Vu Nguyen, d/Manager ATS Division, NORATS (VATM) • Wahyu Widodo , VP ATS Development, AirNav Indonesia • He Peiru, Chief, Regional ATM, CAAS It was an energising exchange on how collective intelligence, shared data, and strong partnerships can shape the next chapter of ATM in APAC. I have worked with Rhonda since her time as a Software Engineer, where she already stood out as a self-starter and a colleague I could trust to take ownership with minimal guidance. She learns quickly, asks the right questions, and has always shown the discipline to turn ambiguity into clear, well-executed work. On the Regional Collaboration Platform, Rhonda grew into a strong Technical Lead and became an important pillar for software design and implementation. She brings structure to technical discussions, follows through with care, and has a practical sense of how to balance design quality with delivery needs. What I admire most is her quiet dependability. Rhonda does not need to make a lot of noise to have an impact. She earns trust through consistency, thoughtful execution, and the confidence she gives others that the work is in safe hands. More than a capable Technical Lead, Rhonda is someone ready for bigger responsibilities. I have no doubt she will embrace them fully and perform at a high level.”

Awambeng Rodrick Bolan adorsys Ireland • 926 followers A perspective I strongly agree with. As AI continues to transform software engineering, I believe one thing will become even more important: strong engineering foundations. AI can help us write code faster, explore solutions, and build things that previously required much more time. But knowing what to build, why to build it, and whether the result is reliable, secure, scalable, and maintainable still requires engineering judgment. In fact, I think the better AI gets, the more important these fundamentals become. The future may not be about engineers writing every line of code themselves. It may be about engineers who can understand systems deeply, make good decisions, effectively use AI, and shape the right solutions. That is why I find these four areas such a valuable roadmap for where software engineering is heading. AI will amplify our capabilities. Strong engineering foundations will determine how well we use them. Thanks to Andrew Ng for the framework and to Hugo Ibanez for bringing this perspective to the community. 1

Luyolo Tuta Charismatic Staffing & Event… • 1K followers I've spent the last few weeks diving deep into the Springboot ecosystem, and wow, I must say, it's been an intensive journey but definitely a rewarding one. It has really changed the way I think about backend development. My 3 biggest takeaways so far: 1. Don't fear the annotations: In the beginning, they felt like 'magic', but once I understood what annotations like '@component' and '@service' actually do, the framework started making a lot more sense. 2. Documentation truly is your friend: Whenever you get stuck, don't be afraid to check the official docs, as most of the time the answers you need are already there. 3. Start small (baby steps): Don't try to build a microservices architecture on Day 1. Master the simple CRUD application first. Still a lot for me to learn, but I am enjoying the process. #Java #Springboot 19

I keep seeing teams filter out great builders because their title doesn’t say Rust, Protocol, or Infra. But the strongest engineers I’ve placed this year had: ⚡ Real distributed systems experience ⚡ Rust / Golang / low-level infra under the hood ⚡ Exposure to validators, devops, backend ⚡ Full ownership inside tiny, chaotic teams In early Web3, titles almost never match the work. People build across the stack long before the CV catches up. If you’re struggling to hire: 👉 Stop filtering by perfect titles 👉 Start looking for engineers who’ve actually built systems 18 5 Comments

They won’t match Meta’s sky-high offers, yet their top engineers stay. It’s because Anthropic makes 3 things clear to their hires: 1. Mission is first ✅ They write down their safety-first mission and make it part of daily engineering work, not just a slogan. 2. No bidding wars. ✅ Pay is tied to levels. They refuse one-off salary spikes, which keeps trust inside the team. 3. Progress you can see ✅ Claude’s updates and research outputs make momentum visible to both engineers and the outside world. This lines up with what I hear from top talent who want to build something that matters, see real progress, and work with managers who coach, not gatekeep. You win the war for talent by making meaning, momentum, and management stronger than money. 24 1 Comment

As a recruiter, I've seen countless software engineer portfolios, and the best ones share several common elements that truly showcase their expertise and make them stand out 🌟. 1. Dimitri Tarasowski Holidog • 84K followers The hardest interview round for senior platform engineers isn't systems design. It's the production reasoning loop. ❗️Staff Platform Engineer Interview Experience — Position: Staff Platform Engineer at a Top Fintech Round 1 — Recruiter Screen - Walk me through the largest platform you've owned end-to-end. - How many engineers did your platform serve? - Why are you leaving? Round 2 — Coding (Live) - Implement a token bucket rate limiter for an API gateway at 50k req/s. Edge cases first. - Given 10 GB of JSON access logs, write a query that surfaces the top 5 failure patterns. - A service emits timestamps; find the longest healthy streak (no events for >5 min counts as unhealthy). Round 3 — Systems Design - Design a secrets distribution system for 2,000 engineers across 4 regions with a 1-hour rotation policy. - Build an internal developer platform that takes a service from commit to production in under 10 minutes — and you have to convince 200 existing services to migrate. - A team needs to deploy the same workload to AWS, GCP, and on-prem. Where do you draw the abstraction layer? Round 4 — Production Reasoning (the round most senior+ candidates fail) - Blue-green deploy fails 1% of the time, only on the green side. Walk through it without grepping logs blind. - Postgres CPU is pinned at 100%, queries look healthy, nothing in slow log. What's actually wrong? - Latency spikes only for users in São Paulo. Other regions unaffected. Where do you look first? - Your Kafka consumer lag is climbing but producers are healthy. Walk me through the next 30 minutes. Round 5 — Cross-Functional / Leadership - A product team wants to bypass your platform and ship directly to prod. How do you handle it? - Tell me about a service you killed on purpose to make the system healthier. - Two senior engineers disagree on the rollout strategy for a critical migration. You decide. Round 6 — Bar Raiser - What does staff-level mean to you, concretely? - Where do you disagree with the SRE community at large? - Name a system you deeply admire that you didn't build. Most loop interviews test three things: production reasoning, abstraction discipline, and trade-off honesty. The diagrams don't matter. The trade-offs do. Save this before your next loop. 22

I had a really interesting conversation with a CTO about this today. We were talking about the type of Software Engineers they want to hire. On one side you've got people coming from Big Tech. They've passed incredibly difficult interview processes, worked with some brilliant engineers and often solved technical problems at enormous scale. The technical ability isn't really the question. The question is whether a completely different environment gets the best out of them. There might not be a process for what you're doing. The infrastructure probably doesn't need to be capable of serving a billion users. There might not be another team responsible for the thing you've just discovered needs doing. And sometimes the requirement is simply: “We haven't figured this out yet. Can you?” What I found interesting was the profile he was effectively describing. Someone with the technical ability to thrive in Big Tech, but the mindset to operate without everything that comes with it. Technically excellent, but also pragmatic. Comfortable with ambiguity. Willing to work across problems. Able to decide when the sophisticated solution is necessary and when the simple one is better. It made me think that we probably use “the best engineers” as far too broad a term. Because maybe there isn't really such a thing as ‘the best engineer’ in isolation. Someone can be exceptional in one environment and completely frustrated in another. Put them somewhere with huge scale, defined ownership and deeply specialised problems and they might flourish. Put the same person somewhere they're expected to jump between problems, make decisions with incomplete information and build the process as they go, maybe they don't. And presumably the reverse is true too. So maybe the question isn't: “How good is this engineer?” It's: “What environment gets the best out of them?” 15 3 Comments

It’s easy to get caught up in the salary, title and shiny tech stack. But your next move should be about where you can do your best work, develop your career and actually enjoy turning up every day. Before accepting an offer, take the time to understand the company behind the job. Here are some questions I’d recommend asking your potential new employer: 💻 The role • What will I actually be working on day-to-day? • What does success look like in the first 6–12 months? • What are the biggest technical challenges facing the team? • How much influence will I have over technical decisions? 👥 The team • Who will I be working with? • How is the engineering team structured? • How do developers collaborate with product, design and the wider business? • What is the management style? 🚀 Career development • What opportunities are there to progress? • How do you support engineers who want to develop technically? • Is there a clear engineering career path? • How often are performance and development goals reviewed? 🧠 Technology & engineering culture • How do you approach technical debt? • How much time is allocated to improving the codebase and architecture? • What is your approach to testing, CI/CD and code reviews? • How do you decide which technologies to adopt? 🏢 The company • What are the company's plans for the next 2–3 years? • How is the engineering function contributing to those plans? • What has the company got right — and what still needs improving? • Why do your best engineers stay? And perhaps the most important question: "If I spoke to someone who left this company recently, what would they say about working here?" The right move isn't necessarily the company offering the biggest salary. It's the company where the role, people, technology, culture and opportunity align with what you want from your career. Do your research. Ask difficult questions. Interview the company just as much as they're interviewing you. Your next move could shape the next five years of your career. #SoftwareEngineering #SoftwareEngineers #TechJobs #TechRecruitment #EngineeringJobs #CareerAdvice #TechCareers #Recruitment #Hiring #SoftwareDevelopment

Interview Skool 2K followers We have reviewed 100+ Meta system design submissions. Most engineers fail at the same spot: they jump into architecture without clarifying requirements. Meta doesn't want a perfect solution. They want to see how you think. Here's the framework that works: 1. Spend 5 minutes asking questions. "What's the expected scale? Read-heavy or write-heavy? Latency requirements?" 2. Draw high-level boxes first. Don't detail anything until the interviewer agrees on the structure. 3. Pick ONE component to deep dive. Don't try to cover everything, go deep on one thing. 4. State your trade-offs out loud. "I'm choosing eventual consistency here because..." 5. Handle the pushback. Meta interviewers will challenge your choices. That's the point. Prashanth Banda Salesforce • 950 followers No abstraction is better than a bad abstraction. We rush to build generic services, base classes, and reusable frameworks. It feels like great design, but it’s actually just guessing. Good abstractions are usually not invented. They are supposed to be discovered. I’d rather refactor duplicate code later than untangle a bad abstraction today. Simple and obvious always wins over "clever" and complex. If it hasn’t happened at least three times, it probably doesn’t need an abstraction yet. #SoftwareEngineering #CleanCode #Architecture 33
