I'm pretty panicked right now, so I'll try to make this short. I have an Asus Q400a laptop that's a few years old. I've only modified it once, by switching out the old HDD with a new hybrid SSD-HDD, then reinstalling Windows 8. It's currently on Windows 8.1. I recently installed some fishy programs (Trojan horse likely), but made my best attempts at uninstalling and deleting them from my laptop. However, every time I boot after I turn it off, it gives me a BSoD with the driver error within a minute and some parentheses with (ndistpr64.sys) show up after the error. That means I barely have time to do anything. I try to boot in safe mode, but the F2 menu (Aptio Setup Utility) doesn't get me to safe mode and neither F8 nor F9 take me to a recovery menu (F10, F11, and F12 don't work either). I've tried using Malwarebytes to check my laptop, but it tells me the requested resources are used, which means it's likely a rootkit that's affecting my laptop. I have the Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit on a USB and the original Windows 8 installation disks with me. I just need to find a way to either delay this error or get into a mode where I can run the Anti-Rootkit. Any help is appreciated. Locked Question. I want to reach the recovery menu but I just can't seem to get there. 0 comments No comments One more small thing: shift + restart also fails to work. Anonymous 2017-04-03T12:58:54+00:00 I had this issue yesterday when I installed an unknown program. I finally found a way to fix it. When your computer or laptop restarts and you login into your account, quickly right click your task-bar and click " task manager ". Then click on the " Start Up " tab and disable anything that was not there before you had the virus problem. Your computer will probably restart again in the process, but when you're logged in again, do the same process to whatever you didn't get to disable before. Then click on the " User " tab and disable any suspicious text or new programs that were added when you downloaded the program. This will stop those "virus" programs from shutting down your computer while your trying to remove those programs. For me, after I did that, I just rebooted/reset my laptop back to when I first got it because I felt that it was better to do to get it to work again. Although I do feel somewhat sad that I forgot to back up some of my important documents, but oh well. What's done is done. If you decided to reset your computer to the beginning, make sure to back up anything you want to save onto another device (usb, computer/laptop, cd, etc). Also, it's still advised to do a virus scan if you do reset it just to make sure the virus is gone for good. 0 comments No comments I had this issue yesterday when I installed an unknown program. Anonymous 2017-05-09T23:05:21+00:00 soysuva, i had a friend who had the same problem today. sad to say that solution will not work in most cases considering the on-startup virus is too quick. upon each restart all of those programs that are malicious will re-enable making it a game of Typist Extreme The Second Coming (restart 3rd, restart 4th, restart...MOTHER F****) point being...theres a much easier solution and it involves a fail safe way of entering safe mode using command prompt. First after logging in IMMEDIATELY go to command prompt. To do this hit the keyboard shortcut "Win+x" then select "Command Prompt Admin" the UAC will come up asking for permission. hit yes. Then type this script exactly..."bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes" this will force activate boot menu options before getting to the login screen (Note: Verbatim make sure every word is case sensitive to what i told you and it should say operation successful. I realize its a tall order typing that fast before the trojan gets back to its dirty business but it is doable 0 comments No comments soysuva, i had a friend who had the same problem today. sad to say that solution will not work in most cases considering the on-startup virus is too quick. upon each restart all of those programs that are malicious will re-enable making it a game of Typist Extreme The Second Coming (restart 3rd, restart 4th, restart...MOTHER F****) point being...theres a much easier solution and it involves a fail safe way of entering safe mode using command prompt. Hit 4) safe mode and once ur computer loads it should look like this from here u can scout in ur program files folder/program x86 folder and documents for all documents and files modified on the day of the incident. Keep in mind however this virus was persistent and malicious and purposefully prevents safe mode access (aka "Shift+Restart") and it took me more than 7hrs to resolve this issue (meaning the command prompt admin script). If at anytime you want to disable the script re-run command prompt admin and type "bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no". This virus made me wanna kill myself and the way my blood pressure is right now...i still might 🙂 0 comments No comments Afteru restart hit f8 and from there they should list options for how u would like to use the os.
