Outlook for Mac 2011 constantly asking for my Outlook.com account's password

Split from this thread.
I am constantly getting a popup window asking for the password for my email account being used on Outlook for Mac 2011.
I am using an Outlook.com address and yes I check the box in the next popup window asking me to remember the password when I enter it again.
I have the latest version of Outlook for Mac 2011 installed which 14.7.3 and am running Sierra 10.12.4 on my iMac..
I read all the thread on this issue. I have had this problem for months. Just this week I updated my OS to Sierra 10.12.5 and my Outlook 2011 to 14.7.4. I used to never have this problem but since last year I finally took time to change software updates. My att support people say it is not their issue. Mail comes in fine to att.com or yahoo.com, just Outlook has problems and I want to continue using it.
Mac support said it must be a Microsoft server issue. I have two other accounts, one business on Exchange, and another old one on mindspring. Mail sent out never has t problem with emails sent and requiring to add passwords.
Also, I have tried like the other person to change my setting to name and password and that did not work. Why does the password in my Outlook Preferences keep getting deleted? This sets up the problem.
This is very annoying. What works? I am happy with 2011 and have no confidence that 2016 will fix this and it costs $200 I'm told.
Just two of us Mac people can't be the only ones with this issue, right? Joe

It is recommended to configure your account to the client as below.
If you have enabled App password and two-step verification, when you log into Outlook client, you may need to enter this app password where you would enter your normal password.
You can find details about this via this article: App passwords and two-step verification.
Clear cache in KeyChain: open KeyChain> type "All Items"> search "Outlook" in the search bar in the right corner> delete the cache password> open Outlook client and type your password using the method mentioned above when the dialog pop out> save it and restart Outlook.

Anonymous 2017-06-13T02:55:52+00:00 Vanessa, My error is slightly different. Also, with Outlook 14,7,4 I looked for App password and two step verify but there is no 'info' setting under 'file'. ?? I'm stuck. The preference settings I have now from ATT do not match yours so I will change to match. Keep in mind that the password kept disappearing when I would set it the old way. Also, when in Outlook, I will start to type and from time to time I get the spinning color ball from Mac for about 20 sec and can't do anything. This delay has nothing to do with password sends. This new upgrade has been a bigger nightmare. Plus, in the past, if I inserted a photo into the body, I could adjust it's size, but now I don't see that function. Does it work, or did it get deleted? I have done that on a PC but not my Mac now. i hope you can help!. Joe 0 comments No comments
