Based on your description, if the user knows the email address of your Office 365 group (private), he would be able to email the group by default if you don’t change the delivery message options for the group you created. If you don’t want users outside the group to send emails to your private office 365 group, you can try to change the delivery message options for that group as below:
1. Sign into Office 365 Exchange Admin Center https://outlook.office365.com/ecp/ with global admin account.
2. Click Recipients > groups > find your private office 365 group there.
3. Click the edit button ( like a pen) to open the edit window.
4. Delivery management > Only senders in the following list. You can only add the group members in the list.
5. Save your changes.

I may try and ask our admin office and see if they can access this to make the changes? 0 comments No comments

Many thanks I have just identified that the email received by a group member was sent by someone in my school who copied me into a reply. The school member is not a member of the group i created. i creates the group using my school office 365 account and as a private group so i would like to know how someone outside the group was able to email the group? 0 comments No comments
